Need for Equanimity.

What is Equanimity?

'The fourth of the Four Immeasurables.

It means to remain free from attachment and aversion in a balanced and benevolvent state of mind'.

-- Quoted from 'Buddha & Love' book by Lama Ole Nydahl.

The Need.

Without equanimity, people cling to what's pleasant and avoid what's unpleasant.

As this develops, people want to take away money from those they consider uglier, and send them away - not caring what happens to them.

This is 'Give me your money and get lost' attitude.

Lack of Equanimity results in elitism, snobism, in competition for resources, and as this race continues - in oppression, social inequalities, in crime, terrorism and wars.

Modern people - as HH Buddha Dalai Lama teaches - should be more responsible and considerate.

Without Responsibility and Equanimity, world will have troubles surviving for future generations.

Equanimity should be practiced along with other of Four Immeasurables, i think, however.

Need for Love, Need for Peace.

... judging from my insights, Sangha is too obsessed with power, money & sex, too angry too.

... i suffer because of that.

... i think we need more meditation on breath, compassion & love.

Need for Mind-Calming Meditation on Breath.

About.

i read that Meditation on Breath creates distance from disturbing thoughts & feelings.

i wished to meditate that way since long time.

But had mental illness symptoms that prevented me from doing it.

Because of these mental illness symptoms i also got somatic (physical) ilness symptoms - rapid uncontrolled spasms & habits that caused my neck, head, & other body parts pains.

i think that beings who wish to abuse me, wish me ill ... that they are Causes of these mental & somatic illness symptoms.

Wishes.

i wish to meditate on Breath, i wish for causes & conditions for that activity.

i wish that all beings who wish to meditate on breath have causes & conditions to do so.

Mantras.
