The Four Immeasureables.

Four Immeasureables, the (Skt. A pramana / Tib. Tse me shi): often expressed by four wishes:

1. May all beings have happines and causes of happiness (Love),
2. May they be free from suffering and the cause of suffering (Compassion),
3. May they always experience true happiness, which is totally free from suffering (Sympathetic joy),
4. May they remain in the great equanimity, which is beyond attachment and aversion (Equanimity).


Love.

Love (Skt. Maitri / Tib. Jampa): the first of the Four Immeasurables. The wish that all are happy and have causes of happiness.


Compassion.

Compassion (Skt. Karuna / Tib. Nyingje): the second of the Four Immeasurables, the wish that all living beings may be free from suffering and the causes of suffering.


Sympatethic Joy.

Sympathetic Joy (Skt. Mudita / Tib. Ga wa): the thrid of the Four Immeasurables, rejoicing in the useful actions of others and the wish that others may experience lasting happiness.


Equanimity.

Equanimity (Skt. Upeksha / Tib. Tang nyom): the fourth of the Four Immeasurables. It means to remain free from attachment and aversion in a balanced and benevolvent state of mind.

  2. (EN) Loving Kindness = (PL) Kochająca Dobroć.

    (EN) in different contexts than 'Buddha & Love', we talk of Loving Kindness, instead of Love. it's because Love can assume many forms, one can love sister or daughter or son, etc ... not only lovers' love. = (PL) w innych kontekstach niż 'Budda i Miłość' mówimy o Kochającej Dobroci zamiast o Miłości. jest tak z przyczyny takiej że Miłość może przyjmować różne formy, ktoś może kochać siostrę, córkę, syna, etc ... nie tylko miłość kochanków.
