Protecting from Bodhisattva level.

Introduction.

i read that Mahakala's Protection is mostly about Protecting our Inner Values & Ways.

i read that Mahakala Way does not forbid Protecting on external level, including Protecting Lives, including Protecting Women from Rape, including Protecting Sanity.

Darker Sides.

i read that killing is very disadvised extreme, Protecting by killing is accummulating very bad karma.

i read that only someone who acts from the Bodhisattva level can kill without karmic consequences.

i wish to reach Bodhisattva level so i can protect using a darker ways as well - for i want my future family, sangha, friends & allies safe.

i do not know what 'acting from Bodhisattva level' means, i wish to enter that way & develop on it as soon as possible however.

i've given Bodhisattva promise during my Refuge Course, i think i'll need the Calm Mind & Bodhicitta as well.

i still prefer to not go into darker extremes as i protect, even from the Bodhisattva level.

Darker ways i might use, include:
- Esoterics,
- Martial Arts, including Gas Gun & Knife,
- Computers hacking in future - but not to steal money,
- My other ways in future as well.

Protecting Activity of Mahakala.

Introduction.

i think it's important to understand Protecting Activity of Mahakala, that it is about protecting inner values & dharma teachings, and not about violence toward living beings.

i've tried to translate & paraphrase Buddha Karmapa 17th Trinley Thaye Dorje's words written in Polish language, to my best ability - for any faults, i apologize.

... see also if You wish, neeed, or ... : What is: 'Understanding Fear' ?

Who are protectors?

In the West, according to our tendency to perceive phenomena in a dualistic manner, we see them as something outside. Are protectors a kind of beings?

Protectors are our wisdom's nature. It's not about that we are here, and protectors 'somewhere', where they 'do something for us'. Awakening of our wisdom's nature is protection in itself.

(...)

There are two types of protectors: worldly living beings, and Dharma protectors, being absolute wisdom.

Enlightened protectors are Buddha's wisdom aspects, as for example: Mahakala.

How protector's activity works?

Generally, activity of a worldly protector is protecting area, nation or place from troubles or harmful influences.

Most important activity of Dharma protectors is protecting teachings. Their main activity is not about external threas. Dharma protectors save us from 'inner enemies' - disturbing emotions as attachment, confusion, desire, anger and pride. Protectors help us to control these weaknesses. This way they wrap protection around those who practice.

Through Dharma protectors, as through other Buddha aspects, enlightenment expresses in it's three qualities: wisdom, power and compassion.

We all have Buddha nature, but to recognize it, we need proper conditions.

Protectors' tasks are creating these conditions for us - they protect us from situations hindering our development and help us to find best conditions for recognizing our inborn Buddha nature. In other words, these energies remove hindrances from our way to enlightenment.

How a buddhist can physically protect others or fight for his or her own nation?

When we talk about protecting nation or even planet, it's usually that we mean killing and wounding others. If we are wounding other being, especially when there's ego or anger, it's not Dharma activity or even a buddhist activity at all.

(...)

If someone was attacked and you witness this, of course - protect, it's a completely normal reaction, everyone would do this. But try to not wound, to not kill attacker. Even in very difficult situations it's possible to avoid killing. Taking life is something extreme.

Protecting Enlightened Love.

Introduction.

Love should be cared for, nurtured, otherwise it falls apart.

We should think about Enlightened Love as often as possible.

We should Protect Love as is neccessary, as well.

Namaste.

Namaste for a Buddhist friend, Hanna Łubek, who gave me this lesson - she told me that Love should be cared for, otherwise it detoriates and falls apart.

Namaste for others who did teach me related lessons, as well.

Symbols.

Lotus.

The lotus has been used in many teachings of Buddhism to impart the true nature of all mankind.

The roots of the lotus plant are stuck deep in the mud, but it still grows above murky water and blossoms into a beautiful, sweet-smelling flower.

The lotus can be analogous to how we rise up from our sufferings to reach enlightenment, beauty and clarity.

Different-colored lotus plants mean different things in Buddhism.

White means spiritual and mental purity, pink means the traditional Buddha, purple is for mysticism, red means love and compassion, while blue means wisdom.

The parasol or umbrella.

An umbrella can protect people from the different elements, like the sun or the rain.

In this context, a parasol or umbrella can mean protection from suffering and harmful forces.

It can also mean the enjoyment of the cool shade it provides.

Mahakala.

Mahakala is Buddhist Protector, Protecting Energy, Wrathful Deity in Buddhism.

A wish.

i wish to learn & develop Buddhist means of Protecting Enlightened Love,

... to not be overcome by anger or other disturbing feelings when something or someone endangers our Love,

... either in mind, or in the external world.

Purifying the Causes of Suffering.

Dangers to Enlightened Love have Causes.

These causes have to be learned & addressed properly.

'How does one purify karma that causes pain?

This happens through four stages of one's inner attitude:
- First, one realizes that one has caused pain.
- Second, one wishes to remove what is disturbing.
- Third, one makes the firm decision not to do it again.
- Fourth, one consciously decided to act in the opposite way.'

-- Quoted from 'Buddha & Love' by Lama Ole Nydahl.
