i do not know everything, but i think ... in this article i share my insights & thoughts, constructive critic is requested & welcome.
... we are Mind, not bodies, it's Mind that has body not the other way.
When we Buddhists talk that beings have Mind, we think that Mind experiences illusion of being contained in body, affected by Reality.
In Buddhism, the Mind itself, the Consciousness itself is aware, from each moment to each moment it experiences Reality as being with body, affected by laws of physics & other conditions.
What we experience from moment to moment is our Karma, drawn from Store Consciousness.
When conditions hold, causes can ripen, wishes from past lives can fulfill or make steps toward fulfillment.
From each moment to each moment our Mind state changes, as in an interactive film. How we react to what we experience decides on next moments, as well as seed Karma into Store Consciousness for our future.
Experiencing Reality as Continuous is an Illusion, as there are Discrete Moments of Awareness. In Mathematics, word 'Discrete' means non-continuous, as in a serie of points instead of a continuous line. In these points in time-flow, in these points of awareness & reaction, our Mind state changes on a moment-to-moment basis.
What happens when we die?
If we experience Reality as driving car, then having accident our body might die and Mind state change into one associated with bardo ... and progresses through bardo until it is reborn again.
Mind does not die, just changes a Mind state, sometimes in a small way, sometimes in drastic way - as in the moments of death & rebirth.
When a being is conceived, Mind connects with the new body, it becomes a living body.
i think there are main incarnations that affect body in the strongest way, as well as minor incarnations - resulting from inspiration from many sources.
i think that when main incarnation reaches Enlightenment, other, minor incarnations are strongly pulled that way as well.
What decides of choice of a body for the main incarnation?
i think beings in bardo seek to be reincarnated in a place & time most well suited for fulfilling one's wishes made in past lives.
Thus karma decides on how our body looks, what are our mental tendencies, which family raises us, and what are our social surroundings & wealth, among other things.
i think that when a minor incarnation is experiencing good karma, successess, also the main incarnation benefits.

i wish for Enlightened & Artful Love with a Buddhist woman, and i know which.
i wish to support modestly better reincarnation of HH Shamar Rinpoche, to help in protecting
HH Shamar Rinpoche as well, on Mahakala Way.
i wish other beings who wish to do so as well, are able to do so as well.
May all beings have happines and causes of happiness,
May they be free from suffering and the cause of suffering,
May they always experience true happiness, which is totally free from suffering,
May they remain in the great equanimity, which is beyond attachment and aversion.
