Advice regarding jealousy & anger.

Advice

Judging from my recent inner states, from buddhist wisdom, but also from my experiences accumulated during years of struggle with ego - it's not the way to succumb to jealousy & anger.

While these detrimential feelings might seem a source of strength, might seem effective for a short while - these are hindering true spiritual growth in a long run.

Defeat evil with good, defeat anger with patience instead - it's better & more sure way of winning against immoral adversaries & enemies, it's safer as well.

Wishes.

May all beings have happines and causes of happiness,

May they be free from suffering and the cause of suffering,

May they always experience true happiness, which is totally free from suffering,

May they remain in the great equanimity, which is beyond attachment and aversion.

Quieter Mind.

Introduction.

This article is to inspire & cheer up others who enter the challenges of the Diamond Way Buddhism, as well as to share my progress with others who care.

Quieter Mind.

After about 5 years of mind-calming practice, my mind seems more stable & quiet.

i am enjoying subtler consciousness & energy, as well as fading of the mental illness symptoms - both in mind, as well as in body.

In mind i have less of attacking & insulting voices, i have less of detrimential & angry feelings; since years, depression is gone as well thanks to meditation.

In body i have less of spasms.

Wishes.

May all beings have happines and causes of happiness,

May they be free from suffering and the cause of suffering,

May they always experience true happiness, which is totally free from suffering,

May they remain in the great equanimity, which is beyond attachment and aversion.

Loving Eyes.

Loving Eyes.

A Quote.

'Loving Eyes (Skt. Avalokiteshvara, Tib. Chenrezig): The buddha of compassion and of
non-discriminating love.

He is in the Joy State, white in color, seated in full meditation posture.

He has four arms.

His outer right hand holds a crystal mala, which frees all beings from the conditioned world.

His middle hands hold the jewel of enlightenment in front of his heart.

His outer left hand holds a lotus blossom, which shows the purity of his view.

His eyes see all beings'.

-- Quoted from 'Fearless Death' book by Lama Ole Nydahl.

Blog author's comments.

In Buddhism, the way of developing Loving Eyes in oneself is noticing what's perfect in others, instead of their faults. It's also form of Compassion.

i heard & read that developing Wisdom & Compassion is the Way to Enlightenment.

Spiritual Politics.

About.

i am not interrested in mundane politics (presidents & voting, sociographics, economics, warfare, crimes, ...), but occasionally i look - especially when there are threats.

i am interrested however in Buddhist, Magickal, Occult, Mystical, Metaphysical, Parapsychological, Esoteric & other Spiritual Politics.

i like to look at Art- & Science- related politics & trends as well, especiall if these are Metaphysical or Spiritual.

i prefer Peace over Wars as well.

Target Groups.

i am involved with Buddhism, Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Wicca, Witchcraft & other Spiritual groups.

i can talk to Thelema as well to arrange peace, etc ... - even if i don't accept most vile parts of their laws (attacking Buddhists, Christians, ... ; Sacrificing Children). Other Thelemic laws i can tolerate, even if a certain number of them - barely.

i read Thelemic Book of the Law (Liber AL vel Legis), where this is written in.

As for Islam, i am not enemy of Islam, but Terrorists i don't tolerate at all - no matter whether Islamic or other.

i think that Nihilism is even worse than Thelema, i think that Terrorism is even worse than Nihilism.

Wishes.

i wish to be useful & beneficial on the Spiritual Politics Front - to bring Spiritual Unity for all - at least a little more than as of present.

* Metaphysics i think it's more about Philosophy with a little less but also with Spirituality,

Impermanence, Change & Respect for the other Ways.

Introduction.

Impermanence & constant change is a part of life & an important part of Buddhist thought.

Only Enlightened Mind is lasting we are taught.

Recently HH Karmapa 17th Trinley Thaye Dorje gave an interview about this.

In this an interview HH mentioned deep respect for Pope as well.

Blog author's approach.

i accept life's changes, without losing my priorities, focus & view;

i focus on attaining Enlightened Love as a Way for Enlightenment as a priority, i know for whom i'll fight for as well.

Everything else is optional, every other change is acceptable as a part of the Way.

Respecting Pope & Other Ways.

While i respect Buddha Karmapa's words, i have my own way.

i think i'll try to respect Pope & Church more than before, even if i'll help 'beings in hells' more - because of my friendship with pagan & wiccan people - with witches, esoterics, parapsychologists & magicians, etc.

i'll still try to be a compassionate, altruistic, idealistic & good a person, i'll still try to persuade these people to not go too much into 'the Evil' & 'Moral Decay'; i'll still try to turn 'Black Magick' into the 'Art of Magick & Light' that aims to be as White, Moral & 'of the Light' as far as i can.

i'll need help of Good & Altruistic, Buddhist & Esoteric, friends & teachers - if/when i go too far into darkness, to drag me out - and i wish to repay my karmic debt for that if/when this occurs.

i won't accept this kind of help however from beings who 'try to drag me out from darkness' without at least trying meaningfully to understand, care & respect me, my friends, our Teachers & our Ways, or if they try to abuse the 'rescue' in any way.

Namaste.

i don't want to go away from Buddhism, nor from our Sangha of the Karma Kagyu Lineage under HH Buddha Karmapa 17th Trinley Thaye Dorje.

i'll try to be open-minded & antisectarian still.

By 'Esoteric' word - in a context of this article - i mean: 'Following a Spiritual Way other than of our Way'; in other contexts an 'Esoteric' word might mean 'Inner, Secret Lessons of Our Way' as opposed to an 'Exoteric' word, that means: 'Public, Open Lessons of Our Way'.

Wishes.

i wish our efforts to bring Spiritual people together instead of separating.

i wish for the Truth & for Honesty, including Self-Honesty as much as i can.

i wish we all prosper together, and grow together in understanding, wisdom, compassion, skillful methods & power.

i wish for true freedom, lasting peace & lasting happiness for all of beings.

Training the Mind.

Introduction.

Since years i am almost constantly practicing non-attachment, non-aversion as a way to calm mind.

Since years i feel i have a mind contact with others, i feel i am helping many kids & adults to be calmer.

It seems that when thoughts & feelings are shared, calmer person can affect other people's thoughts & feelings in a beneficial way.

Challenges & Aspirations.

Occassionally the thoughts & feelings i share - as well as my own karma - 'explode', for example when there's too much of anger or other negativity; then i suffer from mind ilness symptoms: voices, urges, loss of control over body & speech.

Training Mind seems to be similar to Karate lessons - it takes time, effort & occasionally hurts. Even more - there's short meditation on breath before Karate lessons, and many think that Karate is a 'meditation while moving'. Certainly a calm mind & focus is an advantage during training & fights, it also helps to not harm training partners, as well as to perform exercises with the great precision.

While i could handle such 'explosions' until now, i am trying to find work - these self-control, style & sanity losses hinder me in having normal life of a working person.

While forgetting oneself & helping others beyond the comfort zone is a very fast development, true compassion should affect all beings - including myself.

I should not sacrifice myself for others, i should also care for myself. When i'll have surplus, when i am not so disturbed by helping others i can truly benefit them.

Perhaps there are ways to help more difficult people in larger numbers without suffering style & sanity loss; perhaps there are mind qualities that let beings do that. If that is true, i wish to 'invest' my time, good karma & energy into developing these qualities to be able to help more difficult cases in larger amounts.

i think i should meditate & focus before all important activities of mine - including Sciences & Arts, including my Professional Computer Sciences. Computer Sciences can benefit mostly from calm mind, focus, imagination, creativity, simplicity, common sense, discipline, dilligence, scientific reason & abstract thinking. i wish to develop appropriate meditations & mind qualities as well.

Is a Mind Contact a Telepathy & Empathy?

Many people believe in parapsychology, i do as well - even if i am skeptical & critical.

i think that people can perceive both through five senses, as well as through the mind itself.

i think there are many types of mind contact, all are about sharing thoughts & feelings with others.

i think that conversation or even just being together for a while can initiate mind contact, can make people think about the same things, can make feel similarly as well.

There's a body language & expression of the Art, seeing partner's behavior, clothing & jewelry also says something, affects thoughts & feelings.

More than that, i think that mind contact can happen through seeing a paint in a gallery, liking/commenting a facebook post, looking at a photo, speaking a mantra, meditating together, reading, writing, liking or commenting a blog article; there are other ways as well.

When a mind wanders into a certain direction, it's closer to minds of other beings who think & feel similarly - it's when thoughts & feelings are shared.

i think that having gentle & sensitive mind and a small 'ego barrier' helps to make an aware mind contact as well.

Monkey Mind.

'Monkey Mind' is a Buddhist term meaning 'unsettled; restless; capricious; whimsical; fanciful; inconstant; confused; indecisive; uncontrollable'. Monkey Mind is characterized by it's constant chatter, by disturbing thoughts & feelings appearing often, distracting.

i think that causes of the Monkey Mind can be:
- one's own karma,
- mind contact with monkey minds of others.

How to tame the Monkey Mind?

While i am not expert, i read a little; i'll try to tame my monkey mind by:
- calming mind with non-attachment & non-aversion,
- observing mind, trying to understand nature & causes of 'the disneyland' of disturbing feelings & thoughts; it's written that once someone understands nature of a disturbing thought/feeling it is purified & disturbance leaves mind,
- silently talking to my monkey mind, enouraging it to a task of relaxing & observing breath as an alternative to it's constant chatter-plays,
- practicing Meditation on Light & Breath.

i think that these methods can also 'break mind contact', making mind wander to 'breath awareness' instead of following the monkey-like disturbing thoughts & feelings.

it's written & known fact that breathing is a bridge between conscious & subconscious - as we can breathe consciously, controlling the process - or subconsciously, 'automatically'; i think that breath awareness is a key to understanding oneself, one's mind as well; breathing meditations open a way of insight as well - i think these insights can be telepathic/empathic or just a talk with one's subconsciousness & creativity - or both at once.

Calm Abiding.

A Quote.

'Shinay (Tib., Skt. shamatha): A meditation method also called tranquil mind or calm-abiding;

While meditating on an actual, imagined or abstract object, one practices letting the mind be one-pointed and dwell without distraction.

In both Sutra and Tantra, shinay is the foundation for recognizing the true nature of mind.'

-- Quoted from 'Fearless Death' book by Lama Ole Nydahl.

Blog author's situation & comments.

Thanks to Buddhism i've experienced a lot of joys & blessings.

There were times of tranquility & calm, as well as times when mental ilness symptoms (harmful voices in head & urges mostly in my case) & purifications gave me no peace.

Recently i have too much of joys mixed with purifications that are experienced mostly as confusion, anger & mental ilness symptoms.

i need more of the tranquility & calm, more distance to people, thoughts & feelings, less of activity as well.

Perhaps i'll try to Meditate on Light & Breath again, i think it's a form of advanced Calm Abiding Meditation where Focus is on breath.

i'll keep speaking proper mantras as well.

i hope there will be no detrimential effects on my mind, and if/when i'll need more excitement in life - i'll try Tonglen Meditations (Meditation on Giving and Taking) again.

These meditations are available in Lama Ole Nydahl's books.

Wishes.

i wish all beings to be healthy in mind & body.

i wish all beings to be able to experience both calm as well as joy as they need.

Emptiness, Interdependence, Causes & Conditions.

Emptiness.

'Emptiness (Skt. shunyata, Tib. tong panyi: Empty of independent existence, nothing arises by itself, but rather is dependent upon conditions.

Emptiness is the ultimate nature of all outer and inner phenomena and cannot be grasped through concepts.'

-- Quoted from 'Fearless Death' book by Lama Ole Nydahl.

Causes & Conditions.

A cause is a discrete event which occurs before a result.

A condition is not discrete, it is continuous, and must remain true in order for things to arise in dependence upon it.

See also, if You wish or need, ... : Causes & Conditions.

Madhyamaka.

'Whatever arises dependently
Is explained as empty.
Thus dependent attribution
Is the middle way.

Since there is nothing whatever
That is not dependently existent,
For that reason there is nothing
Whatsoever that is not empty.'

Source: 'Pratītyasamutpāda on Wikipedia'.

Interdependence.

'Everything in our world is composite - a car is made of the various parts, wheels, engine etc. Car's parts are composite as well - are made of smaller parts, then of atoms & other particles etc.

Nothing possesses its own irreducible self-nature but everything depends on something else for its existence.

Car without wheels is not car anymore, it depends on existence of all of it's parts assembled properly.

Nothing that is composite is lasting.

Interdependence also points to the mutuality of necessary for fruitful and positive human relations.

We are all interconnected.'

Inspired by meditation & parts of: 'The Teaching of Interdependent Co-arising'.

Transience.

One of understandings of emptiness is that of impermanence.

'if this exists, that exists; if this ceases to exist, that also ceases to exist.'

All inner & outer phenomena are empty, non-permanent, transient.

Certain feelings and thoughts are empty as well, it's possible to get rid of disturbing feelings or thought by understanding their empty & transient nature.

Mutuality, Compassion & Love.

One understandings of emptiness is that we are connected.

We should develop compassion for ourselves & for others so our lives are meaningful.

Had insight that one of understanding of 'non-duality' is that there is connection between two.

There's connection between 'non-duality' & 'mutuality' as well.

Love has to be cared for or it will fall apart with time.

Wishes.

May all beings be able to truly benefit others in this life and in the following lives.

May all beings be able to understand impermanence of all that's composite, as well as lasting nature of clear space of mind.

May all beings be able to understand causality, may they be able to decide what will happen, to form their future with thoughts, words and actions.

May all beings be able to reach highest bliss of Enlightenment, to benefit others without hindrances of confusion and disturbing thoughs and feelings.

May all beings be able to actively continue pure view obtained in meditation in their daily lives.

About Sects.

Introduction & Motives.

... finally book arrived.

'Religious Sects: A Sociological Study (World University Library)' by Wilson, Bryan R.

... i think it's important to understand sects for any antisectarian.

... i wish to think and understand these topics deeply, to not abuse arguments presented in this book in a shallow way. i know my arguments will be criticized as well. i wish to remain & be ever-more honest with myself & others as well.

i will try to integrate my life experiences & insights with study & knowledge contained in this book, to critically present Buddhism's viewpoint as i understand it, as well as with what i got from being raised in a catholic family. i'll wait for critic, will keep reading, thinking & addressing concerns - adding more of material as is needed or neccessary.

i wish my opinions & critic of sectarianism to be beneficial, accurate & beyond-personal.

... i think that being antisectarian is my most important service for Buddhism & others - certainly it's much more important priority than sciences & arts i try to practice as well.

... regarding Buddhism & Arts, i wish to integrate antisectarianism & open-mindedness with a dharma-art-science project of mine, 'Art & Dharma Teachings' Service.

... i chose to be antisectarian on my own. my parents tried to discourage me from buddhism fearing that it's sect, that it encourages terrorism - being not sure about what is buddhism and what is islam. now i try to pave the way for others to be able to meditate without hindrances of sect-accusations, so when that energy returns to me, i'll be able to meditate again as well; already seen small results in that way as well :)

i do not want to abolish catholic church as a whole, or to stall it, just to inform, talk & help it to reform - i think that worst enemies on this front of both Buddhism & Catholic Church is ignorance, fear & stiff ideas.

About Sects.

'Sects are movements of religious protests.

Their members separate themselves from other men in respect of their religious beliefs, practices and institutions, and often in many other departments of their lives.

They reeject the authority of orthodox religious leaders, and often, also, of the secular government.

Alliegance to a sect is voluntary, but individuals are admitted only on proof of conviction, or by some other test of merit : continuing affiliation rests on sustained evidence of commitment to sect beliefs and practices.

Sectarians put their faith first: they order their lives in accordance with it. The orthodox, in contrast, compromise faith with other interrests, and their religion accommodates the demands of the secular culture.

At first glance, sects may appear to be marginal and incidental phenomena in history - odd groups of alienated men with outlandish ideas.

Yet, at times, sects have had an immense significiance for the course of history.

After all, Christianity itself was only a Jewish sect at beginning.

(...)

Religions may begin as sects, and in the Christian case the sect preceeded the church. But once established, the church anathematised all new sects.'

-- Quoted from 'Religious Sects: A Sociological Study' book by Bryan Wilson.

Religions, Sects & Social Control of Ruling classes.

'Whereas the church was hierarchic and conservative, appealing to ruling classes for whom it operated as an agency of social control, the sect was egalitarian, radical and an expression of the depressed condition of underprivileged groups.

The church, both socially and ecclesiologically, saw itself as an order established from above, whereas the sect saw itself as working up from below.'

-- Quoted from 'Religious Sects: A Sociological Study' book by Bryan Wilson.

Sects & Charismatic Leaders.

'Sects in industrial (and modern) societies, however, are less frequently attributable to charismatic leaders.

(...)

In primitive societies such a figure (charismatic leader) is almost always the source of new religious movements'

-- Quoted from 'Religious Sects: A Sociological Study' book by Bryan Wilson.

Blog Author's comments.

Do sects use foreign languages as a way of separating themselves & hiding intent from the rest of society?

i confirm, i read there are cases of sects who even stress that.

Is Diamond Way Buddhism of the Karma Kagyu School under Buddha Karmapa 17th Trinley Thaye Dorje a sect?

i think not, for our Buddha wishes us to not separate from society too much, for our leaders give lessons of how to approach other Schools & their lessons (We can take Refuge in Lessons instead of taking a Refuge in Teachers).

We speak in native language often, but also use foreign languages, because these words carry blessing or to communicate international ideas to others. Buddhism spans acros many nations, and when we use internet - it has it's own language, a mix of languages; There are secret lessons however, dangerous and misleading to unwise and untrained minds i think as well. i think they are available however to anyone who truly wishes, and is patient, wise, compassionate and dedicated.

We might have different views than other Religions, we may not even be a Religion however; we still try to be useful for ourselves & others.

We work within the society, we do not stir revolutions, World's Peace is important for us, we adjust ourselves to secular laws & rules as Buddhism always did in past.

We adhere to secular laws, we do not separate from society too much - except for occasional needs for Retreats or in a certain exceptional cases as myself - but not too far, not for too long as well; i wish to find work soon, i wish to have sane relations with non-buddhist friends as well - as soon as i am ready, as soon as i find friends who accept me as i am.

In past there was a moment of my insanity, a moment when i thought that Buddhism is a sect stirring for revolt. Now i think this is not true, it was just my own confused, ignorant & groundless thoughts & feelings, as well as the emerging (from subconsciousness) fears that i've acquired during my childhood in a close-minded family, fuelled by church-warnings-related paranoia. Now when i am calmer, when i understand Buddhism & myself better i think that Buddhism is striving for Peace. i apologize for my groundless accusations as well, both Buddhists as well as others whom i did confuse with my paranoid, confused & ignorant reactions.

for more, see if You wish: Sects.

Bodhisattva & Promise.

'Bodhisattva.

Bodhisattva (Skt., Tib. changchub sem pa): Somebody who strives for enlightenment for the benefit of all beings without ever losing courage.

This attitude corresponds to the ideal of the Great Way, to which the attitude in the Diamond Way also belongs.

On the one hand, a bodhisattva is somebody who has understood emptiness and has developed compassion; on the other hand, this term is used for those who have taken the Bodhisattva Promise.

-- Quoted from 'Fearless Death' book by Lama Ole Nydahl.

Bodhisattva Promise.

The promise to accomplish buddhahood for the benefit of all beings and to work with diligence and strength until all beings are liberated or enlightened.

It is taken in the presence of a realized bodhisattva and is repeated in the context of daily meditation to strengthen this attitude.'

-- Quoted from 'Fearless Death' book by Lama Ole Nydahl.
